Music for, The Boy Who Dared
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XncuY4wLaA8&feature=fvst This is a link the the song "lets start a riot" by three days grace. I think this is a song perfect for how the Nazis felt. I think that They all felt like blaming everything on the Jews and other countries so they wanted to "riot" or rebel against them. This song kind've holds true to Helmuth also. He wanted to speak out and rebel against the Nazis. I could also see this song describing himself because the Nazis ruined his whole life so he probably had the thoughts from this song running through his mind at all times. I personally chose this song because in the book its constant rebellion or striking out against someone else. The Nazis and Helmuth were huge characters in this book who couldn't stand for sitting still and wanted to do something about there issues.
Those who dare to speak the Truth
What is the truth? The dictionary describes truth as being, " the true or actual state of a matter". But who is actually brave enough to tell the actual state of a matter or situation. There is one person that comes to my mind every time, Helmuth Hubener from The Boy Who Dared. He was courageous and brave enough to speak the truth even when it had a death penalty attached to it. Many people Nowadays say its ok to speak a "little white lie". But is it really ok? Most people think that lieng is morally bad. But others say that lieng helps to protect those around them. I think that the truth is the only pure thing with no strings attached. Even tho being truthful can be the hard thing to do most of the time. But if you think about it only the hard things in life are the best an most accomplishing things. Telling the truth no matter what was one of Helmuths major character traits. He spoke out against the whole of Hitler and the Nazis. So why cant we just tell the truth about who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
The difference between German and Nazis
I have just finished the book, "The boy who dared". In this Helmuth was a German boy who decided to speak out against all the Nazis no matter what the cost. But most people don't think there is a difference between Nazis and Germans. In all actuality they are complete opposites. The Germans were people who lived at Germany and lived peacefully. Once Hitler came into reign he brought some Nazis with him and some German people became Nazis also. But most still held there other beliefs and decided to stay German. Most people also don't understand that who the Nazis attacked first. The first country that the Nazis attacked whas there own, Germany. The Nazis came to Germany and made all kinds of troubles for all the German-Jews that lived there. I didn't really know that there was much of a difference between Germans and Nazis until after reading this wonderful book.
